How goes the pandemic in the desert? Buzz Bands LA beamed a QUARANTUNES missive to Joshua Tree, home base of Jesika von Rabbit, whose solo career continues to flourish after fronting Gram Rabbit for five albums and three EPs. On making music — and masks — in No. 16 of our interview/artist playlist series:

THE LATEST FROM JESIKA VON RABBIT

After cultivating a following — The Royal Order of Rabbits — fronting Gram Rabbit, Jesika von Rabbit has continued to perk ears and tickle fancies with her subversively clever, left-field electro-rock. Her latest full-length, 2018’s “Dessert Rock,” was a full platter of calypso, sci-fi, psychedelic, rock, electro and funk influences. She even loosed her country side last year on the single “Joshua Tree,” a collaboration with Jason Nutter that appeared on the FX show “Better Things.” Her recent live shows have included the hilarious new song “Dog at a Human Party,” so ears up for that release.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

I’m doing quite well during this quarantine period. I’m a bit of a homebody anyway, so it’s not a big adjustment for me. I’ve been spending my time writing and recording new music — and creating custom coronavirus masks, cuz a girl’s still gotta look good even under tough circumstances ..

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

I’m really looking forward to getting dressed up and back on the stage. I have a video to shoot for my upcoming single “Dog At A Human Party,” and I am ready to start production on a Christmas movie I co-wrote with friend and director Jessica Janos.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

I love all different genres of music, so this playlist is all over the place. Enjoy, stay safe and be nice to bunnies!
