Genre-melding maverick Rudy de Anda will release his new album “Tender Epoch” on Sept. 18 via Karma Chief Records, an imprint of Colemine Records.

De Anda’s music has always been an affecting collision of influences and, yes, epochs. And the album announcement promises a dip into music such as Mexican psychedelic bolero, Spanish rock, Nigerian funk, 1970s Argentine rock, soul and Chicano soul. The Long Beach-based de Anda made the album at that city’s Jazzcat Studios with producer Jonny Bell (Crystal Antlers), working with his longtime pal, guitarist J.P Bendzinski, and a rotating cast of players that included Chicano Batman’s Bardo Martinez on organ and synth on several tracks.

“Espume” is the footloose, psychedelic new single from “Tender Epoch,” joining previous singles “The Mirror” and “Los Canarios” (2019), as well as 2018’s “Helado.”
