After a week of online teases that sent some sleuths into a tizzy, Deftones have announced today their ninth album, “Ohms,” will be out Sept. 25.

The release sees the band — Chino Moreno, Frank Delgado, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega — reuniting with producer Terry Date, who worked the band’s 2003 self-titled album. “Ohms” is the quintet’s first album since 2016.

While not as menacing as some of the music in their catalog, the title track is a ripper; Deftones’ calling card has always been density and intensity, and they’ve left fans another, 20 years after their landmark album “White Pony” was released.
