Julian Dinwoodie

L.A.-based producer-musician Julian Dinwoodie plies his trade in lush soundtracks for film, tv and commercials. After studying film at Cornell, the Bay Area and New Hampshire native returned to his first love and studied Performance, Contemporary Writing & Production at Berklee College of Music.

His new single “Up N Down Til the End” bounces off his filmwork, beginning the story intimately around his crooning vocals and acoustic guitar as he sings about the ups and downs of love and a bit of wisdom after “too much fun / you lose a friend.” When he (and the melody) reach equilibrium, the songwriter in Dinwoodie steps out in first person, opening his heart, “You know I just miss you / So I’m holding my door / I’m not afraid anymore,”  swooning high in bright-colored harmonies and violin. Landing thereafter back on the warmth of his vocals and guitar, he goes on to sing about time passing and spins out into a pool of longing reminiscence.

As the song ends, it’s easy to lose oneself in Dinwoodie’s echoing waves. The harmonic denouement is a feeling that one is richer having “loved and lost than never to have loved at all” (as Alfred Lord Tennyson knowingly committed to verse in 1850). “Up N Down Til the End” is a journey in motion and listeners will be glad to be carried away with it.
