ONLINE FIND:

■ Los Angeles post-punk trio Automatic featured in the May edition of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM)’s “First Fridays Connected” online series released yesterday. Since their Buzzbands.LA Quarantunes interview mid-lockdown last year, they’ve released “Demo,” an EP of early versions of several songs off their debut album “Signal”; their own $signal cryptocurrency; a remix album featuring reimaginings by the likes of John Dwyer (Osees), Sudan Archives, Peanut Butter Wolf, Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and the father of drummer Lola Dompé) and more; as well as a tease of a brand new song.

The First Fridays Connected episode, focused on the intersection between “Culture X Cuisine,” also featured vinyl stylings by DJ Sammy G, co-founder of Beat Junkie Institute of Sound’s “Ladies of Sound” collective; a discussion with famed pioneering chef Roy Choi and USC Associate Professor Latin American and Iberian Studies Sarah Portnoy, facilitated by host Dr. Knatokie Ford (Fly Sci Enterprise); and a delicious cocktail demonstration by Elle Nucci of EN Events
