ONLINE FINDS:

Johnny Marr waxed poetic about songwriting, style and the Smiths days with Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien on the latter’s “In Isolation” conversation series this week on Instagram. The two songwriter-guitarists also compare notes about living in Manchester, growing up Irish in Great Britain and early music influences. Marr, who was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Roland/Boss, is currently writing his fourth solo album and O’Brien released his debut solo album, “Earth,” under his EOB monogram last April via Capitol Records.

B-Drop Los Angeles also held its first “B-DROP WORLDWIDE” showcase between Moosecat Recording studio in L.A. and the Laylow club in London, U.K. Premiered via Atwood Magazine online, three local indie bands from each side of the pond were featured, including Slothrust, Velvet Starlings and Modern Eyes, hosted by singer-songwriter Lucy LaForge (Lucy and La Mer) in Los Angeles, and the Islas, Opus Kink and the Roves, hosted by musician Karima Francis in London. The format for the program was for each to rock a recent A-side single, share their favorite band crush B-side and then play a B-side of their own.
