SXSW: ‘It’s like playing in a treehouse’

Six bands played Friday on a warm, breezy Austin afternoon at Buzz Bands at Cheers, this blog’s very unofficial, predictably casual and thoroughly enjoyable party during South by Southwest. From atop the wooden deck on the back patio at the 6th Street saloon Cheers, Kyle Krone of the Shys proclaimed it “like playing in a treehouse.” And like watching from one too. Cheers to the Mother Hips, Adam Stephens, the Shys, Local Natives (sorry about those stage monitors), Red Cortez and Harlem Shakes.

I had no idea The Mother Hips were still a band. I haven’t heard that name in almost 15 years.
