‘Bout time. Correatown – the musical hometown of Angela Correa –will release “Spark. Burn. Fade” in July (digitally, it’s out May 26). It’s basically the same album she originally titled “Echoes” (I got a promo copy sometime in 2008, and I was excited about the music then), chock full of her great storytelling and languid vocals. In a year already boasting formidable releases by L.A. singer-songwriters (Eleni Mandell, Sara Lov, etc.), this will on the shortlist.

Indie-rock quartet Death to Anders is hard at work on the follow-up to 2007’s Sonic Youth-channeling “Fictitious Business,” and the early returns point to less dissonance but a no-less-pointed guitar assault. This new offering takes a classic rock riff and runs with it … handshakes all around.
