“Let Go,” the first single off Los Angeles quintet Everest’s new album, is a shimmering little slice of optimism driven by relentless percussion, Jason Soda’s guitar riff and and a bass line that tickles the back of your neck. If it feels as if the flannel-shirted local heroes are going for a grander sound than on their freshman disc, wait until you hear the rest of their sophomore album, “On Approach” (due May 11 on Warner/Vapor). It thinks big, and mostly realizes those dreams.
