The latest album from Stockholm’s Moneybrother, “Real Control,” is a powerful amalgamation of soul, punk and pop, a carnival of sound producing an extraordinarily danceable pop-rock record. Frontman Anders Wendin packs a lot of sound into one song as synths, piano, strings and frat-boy-shouting chorus lines are layered into a sonic stratosphere. More complex than the offerings of many popular pop artists, but certainly calling to mind the likes of Depeche Mode (specifically, “Just Can’t Get Enough”), the Cure and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Moneybrother presents a worthy sequel to his 2003’s “Blood Panic” – and if that isn’t enough Moneybrother has a tomato soup brand too. Now you’ve heard it all.
