Premiere: Blonde Summer, ‘Silver Jesus’

“Eleganza,” the first EP from new L.A. quartet Blonde Summer, is a radiant blast of indie-rock done in the ’90s way – with sharp vocals, insistent rhythms and churning guitars, all slathered in irresistible hooks. The five-song debut is the brainchild of singer-guitarist Chris Pope and guitarist Matt Reid, who sequestered themselves in Joshua Tree to write and then joined up with bassist Chis Livingstone and drummer Stephen Kurshner to record at Aaron Espinoza’s studio, the Ship. The results make me think Blonde Summer could tour alongside Sunny Day Real Estate, or be the sunniest band on Jade Tree. Bright and brainy, just the way we like it.

hey, kevin, what does a 54 year-old dooode haveta say about today’s music? surely AARP needs someone to proof their newsletter.
you suck
Obviously, nothing. We 54-year-olds aren’t entitled to listen to today’s music any more than 22-year-olds are entitled to rip off yesterday’s music.
Good response, K. What a weirdo.
