Gallery: Warpaint at the SPIN Year in Music party

It’s been a very good year for Warpaint, the Los Angeles quartet that emerged after five or so years of slow build to become an indie phenomenon. Their debut album “The Fool” (Rough Trade) is a slow-burner, one of those art-rock pieces (like Autolux, perhaps?) that takes a while to get your ears around but rewards repeat visits with its hypnotic vibe. Warpaint can be too cool for school onstage, but at Tuesday’s lightly attended SPIN Year in Music party at the Music Box, they were looser and more engaging. And the more attention you pay to drummer Stella Mozgawa, the more you walk away feeling you’re seen a great show. The party also featured DJ sets from Stones Throw Records main man Peanut Butter Wolf and a set from San Diego trio Wavves. Photographer Jeff Koga sent along this gallery.
