Video: The Wombats, ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’

When the Wombats landed on U.S. shores in 2008, I figured their music would hang around a while. The Liverpudlian trio had pockets full of catchy pop-punk that was heavy on hooks and humor – “Moving to New York,” “Backfire at the Disco” and “Let’s Dance to Joy Division” are songs that should not have gone so quietly into the night. It turns out our favorite marsupials have been hanging out in L.A. putting the finishes touches on their sophomore album “This Modern Glitch,” which features work from heavyweight producers such as Eric Valentine, Jacknife Lee, Butch Walker and Rich Costey. The rather undeniable first single, “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves),” has already rocked dancefloors in the U.K.; the video follows a romp through the Japanese city; and, below, there are a couple more versions of the song, including one courtesy of L.A.’s own Superhumanoids.
