Video: Generationals, ‘Carrying the Torch’

New Orleans pop acolytes Generationals turned our heads in 2009 when Park the Van Records brought their vans through SoCal to show off wares from their first album “Con Law.” Songwriters Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner haven’t lost any of their pop chops – Generationals’ new album “Actor-Caster” (out March 29 as the follow-up to last November’s “Trust” EP) is immediately likable, a gooey, sweet homage to the ’60s that resists the out-and-out plundering so common now among revivalists. With songs just scratchy and spacious enough to let their cherubic charm shine, the album feels like a first date with pop’s past (or, if you’re old enough, like re-igniting a crush at your high school reunion). The video is from the “Trust” EP; come March, you’ll have more reasons to tap thy feet.
