Ears Wide Open: Incan Abraham

Blurring the lines between psychedelia and pop isn’t groundbreaking these days with the likes of Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective swirling their harmonies in between tight rhythms. However, it is refreshing to hear a band take the formula and bring it into new light. In that way, L.A. quartet Incan Abraham has allowed its sound to bask in the SoCal sunshine. Formerly calling themselves Red Tide, Giuliano Pizzulo, Spencer Mandel, Andrew Clinco, and Teddy Cafaro haven’t been a band for too long, but they’ve put out three substantial EPs. The second, “Adult World,” was only a four-song release, yet the conceptual arch of hazy yet textured pop offered an inviting package of hallucinatory soundscapes. Incan Abraham continued to hone their pysch-pop skills on their latest EP “Sunscreen,” which yields “Third Man,” a track both flowing with ambiance and firm with percussive foundation.
