Knoxville, Tenn.-based trio, Royal Bangs, who was first discovered by the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, have come a long way since their first album in 2008 (also released by Carney on Audio Eagle). Their forthcoming record, “Flux Outside,” offers tumbling electronica that touches on everything from psychedelia to prog-rock. We caught a packed set of theirs during our brief stint at SXSW and their lead single, “Fireball” does a fine job of foreshadowing the rest of the album (out March 29 via Glassnote). Vocals yearningly stretch while guitars are rendered with rapid modulations among the extra eccentricity.
