Picks for your splendid Saturday:
‣ Seattle’s Motopony, riding high on the strength of the self-titled debut, plays a free, KCRW-sponsored show (8 p.m.) at One Colorado in Pasadena. That’s their video for “King of Diamonds,” above.
‣ Globetrotting songstress Keren Ann visits the Luckman Fine Arts Complex at Cal State L.A. behind her latest album “101.” Chris Garneau opens.
‣ L.A. songstress Terra Naomi celebrates the release of her new album “To Know I’m OK” at the Hotel Cafe, where Andy Clockwise plays a later set.
‣ Missing Persons, reunited with the original lineup, plays the Viper Room.
‣ And at the Satellite, there’s the Tribute to the Movies, a celebration of the enigmatic Silver Lake quintet that never quite turned the corner. It will feature performances by members of Shadow Shadow Shade and the Happy Hollows, Wet and Reckless, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Wrong Way Driver, Light FM, Seasons, Rademacher, Death To Anders and others. Some remembrances here and here from Radio Free Silver Lake. Scene veterans should be out in abundance; I hope the people who covered their song “Creation Lake” are there too.
