So Many Wizards has always offered a sound that has been difficult to pin down in terms of genre, and even after expanding his project to a three-piece band including Erik Felix and Warren Woodward, Nima Kazerouni’s playful yet untamed melodies have only been able to fall under the “bedroom pop” umbrella. However, this is certainly one of So Many Wizards’ strengths – falsetto vocals joyously run rampant in unconventional song structures. So it’s fitting that the Elliot Glass-directed clip for “Best Friends” presents an unusual contrast. To suit the light bounce of the song, we see the video’s main character enjoying the bright moments of life. Yet, a part of the picture is blurred with the Grim Reaper by her side. Whether she is choosing to embrace the inevitable is up to the viewer’s interpretation.
