Only last year, Gary Numan was driving “Cars” down memory lane, doing an album tour to mark the 30th anniversary of “The Pleasure Principle.” Now, at an apparently invigorated 53, the new wave innovator has announced plans for not one, but two, new albums. The first, “Dead Son Rising,” will be self-released Oct. 24 via Numan’s website, with another, “Splinter,” being prepared for 2012. “Dead Son Rising” sprang from a collection of demos Numan had for other projects, and although it’s advertised as more experimental than his last few albums, the radio edit of the teaser single “The Fall” isn’t that far out there. Numan, by the way, recently announced plans to move to Santa Monica. Welcome to the ’hood.
