Video: Torches, ‘Dirt & Tears’

Bad things, man, bad things. The video for “Dirt & Tears” – the new single from Torches (who have changed their name from Torches in Trees) – is full of creepy intrigue, betrayal and murder. It’s so dark and psychopathic, in fact, that if the Los Angeles trio ever does a straight-ahead love song you’re going to wonder what they had for breakfast. (We doubt if it would be anything like what was consumed in Brandon Lopez and Mike Pagan’s video.) The band is working on a follow-up to their two EPs and the “Dirt & Tears” single. Its shimmering mix of off-kilter guitars and rhythms and vocal atmospherics marks Azad Cheikosman,
Bridgette Eliza Moody and Eric Fabbro – or whichever one survives the next band meeting – as somebody to watch.
