Ears Wide Open: Coco Morier
Ever since she hit L.A. on the circuitry of her band Electrocute, songwriter/producer Nicole Morier has had a lot of irons in the fire. She juggled collaborators in Electrocute, putting out two albums and handful of other releases, and segued into the songwriting world, co-authoring tunes for the likes of Britney Spears, Tom Jones, Junkie XL and Wynter Gordon. Now as Coco Morier, she’s back at work on her own material, recently returning from Sweden, where she recorded with Miike Snow. On her new song “Journey to the Center of the World” she reunites with the songwriting team Freescha (Nick Huntington and Michael McGroarty), with whom she teamed to write Spears’ 2007 song “Heaven on Earth.” Morier’s live band, which makes its debut in early December, will include multi-instrumentalist Bram Inscore, bassist Ashley Dzerigian and drummer Pete McNeil.
