Ears Wide Open: WALK

“Icebreaker,” the debut album by L.A. quartet WALK, is just that: an entreé to the kaleidoscopic songwriting explorations of Tim Jordan and bandmates Daniel Apodaca, Chris Kerrigan and Matt Kelly. It’s a delirious collision of psychedelia and shoegaze and more – the Flaming Lips meet Swervedriver, Dinosaur Jr. meets Built to Spill, to throw around a few names. Jordan’s boy-next-door tenor might even remind you of Avi Buffalo. Jordan is not exactly a newbie; he’s been nurturing these songs with various lineups for several years. But “Icebreaker,” produced by former Ozma guitarist Ryan Slegr and out via Manzan Records, signals that his time has come.

WALK has been one of the best bands in LA for years now. Good to see them finally getting some recognition.
Very cool.
