Video premiere: Black Flamingo, ‘Haunted House’

Welcome to Black Flamingo’s disquieting video for “Haunted House,” a piece of cinematography that the band owes all to … well, to Black Flamingo. In the true DIY spirit, the shadowy Los Angeles dream-pop sextet – Kimi Recor, Christopher Vick, Alexander Posell, Poul Johansen, Amberlie Bankoff and Mareesa Stertz (not to mention Chuck Taylor as the dog) – concocted their ghostly video themselves, right down to the costumes. Stertz directed (she’d also done a Family of the Year video we posted) the Halloween-worthy piece for the song taken from Black Flamingo’s very good “Luau in the Graveyard” EP, a levitating batch of songs that float between the sunny and spooky. There’s more on the way: Black Flamingo is finishing up their full-length album and doing fund-raising for their upcoming trip to SXSW. Can’t wait.
||| Live: Black Flamingo plays Saturday at the Slab City Music Festival, and after SXSW returns to L.A. for a date March 26 at the Echo as part of NO’s residency.
