[Nels Cline, Michael Stipe, Bernard Sumner and Beth Gibbons celebrate birthdays today – must be something special about Jan. 4 …]
Three local shows tonight to lighten your load (and bide your time until you watch Local Natives on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon):
‣ Torches in Trees are young, really young, but they’ve won friends with their winsome psychedelia, and they play the Silverlake Lounge with Railroad to Alaska and the Sunshine Factory.
‣ Olin & the Moon, with a new album “Footsteps” on the way, kick off a residency at the Echo with Diamond Light and Demo Team.
‣ And reliably fun local rockers the Monolators start a Tuesday residency at LaBrie’s in Glendale, supported by Downtown Union and Shirley Rolls.
Elsewhere: Cinderella Motel and the Active Set at the Redwood; the Knocks at Dim Mak Tuesdays at Cinespace; Alter Bridge (ex-members of Creed) at the House of Blues; the Reveal at the Viper Room; and the New Limb and Steelwells as part of a five-band lineup at the Detroit Bar for the OC Music Awards Showcase.
