Stream: Wild Nothing, ‘Shadow’
Fans of Wild Nothing’s swirling, romantic dream-pop have had their heads in the clouds ever since the single “Nowhere” emerged in January as the first new music since the band’s highly regarded 2010 debut “Gemini.” Today, Jack Tatum and Co. announced that the follow-up, “Nocturne,” would be out Aug. 28 via Captured Tracks and Bella Union. While the previous duet with Twin Sister’s Andrea Estella was sweetly country-tinged, “Shadow” (out June 26), the lead single off the new record, brings us back to the radiant, Sarah Records-inspired pop the Virginia-based songwriter is known for. Despite its dark theme, the 7-inch single (with “Feel You Now” as the b-side) glows with elegant string arrangements and synths that gently simmer on top, which allows his falsetto to dance around in the fragments of light.
