Make Music Pasadena: Festival map, set times and the 10 performances we don’t want to miss

Make Music Pasadena – the free, all-ages day of live performances throughout the City of Roses – goes off Saturday, and it should be a special one. Have a plan yet?

‣ Download a PDF of MMP’s map and schedule here. Or visit their page.
‣ Visit Downtown Lobby to get a customized Google map with set times.
‣ Reproductions of MMP’s schedule are after the jump.

The festival is full of obvious favorites. My list, however …

Top 10 sets to catch at Make Music Pasadena

1 – Y La Bamba [pictured], 3 p.m., Pasadena District Eclectic Stage. Because the Mexican-flavored folk songs on their album “Court the Storm” are something special.
2 – Dam-Funk, 8 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion. Because I need some of what he’s got. And it’s a hometown show for him.
3 – Milo Greene, 5 p.m., Old Pasadena Indie Rock Stage. Well on their way to becoming the perfect festival band. Because of the set time conflict I may have to wait for their Troubadour show.
4 – Dengue Fever, 4 p.m., Pasadena District Eclectic Stage. Because I haven’t caught them in a while and their Cambodian psych-pop is the most distinctive flavor on the menu.
5 – Jessica Fichot, 9 p.m., Alliance Française de Pasadena. Because I’m feeling childlike and need to brush up on my French.
6 – Grimes, 5 p.m., Pasadena District Eclectic Stage. Because I wanna see what all the fuss is about.
7 – Pageants, 6 p.m., Old Town Pub Stage. Catch a rising star. You’ll hear more about them by the end of the year, I’ll bet.
8 – King Devil, 11 p.m., Old Town Pub Stage. Because there is one newbie I want to see at this festival and King Devil is it.
9 – Caught a Ghost, 6:30 p.m., Pasadena Playhouse. Something theatrical in store, perhaps?
10 – The Happy Hollows, noon, Old Pasadena Indie Rock Stage. What a way to start your day. And they added a new guitarist.
