Ears Wide Open: Hindu Pirates

How to describe the flavor of the bright young quintet Hindu Pirates? Well, take a pinch of surfy sensibilities of the Allah-Las, add a dash of FIDLAR’s garage-punk and stir some of fellow O.C. natives Voxhaul Broadcast’s anthemic blues-rock, and you an idea of where Hindu Pirates may move you. All between the ages of 18 and 21, Austin Ferreira, Casey Snyder, Derek Bostelman, Ben Tinsley and Guiseppe LoBasso earlier this year released an album titled “Pelican Daze.” It was a good start, to be sure, but the fivesome have upped the ante considerably on a four-song EP they recently record at the Hurley studio in O.C. “We Used to Run” is wise beyond its years, though it hardly sounds like it.
