Ears Wide Open: Well Hung Heart

Singer Greta Valenti invokes the adage “Rode hard / and put away wet” in Well Hung Heart’s first single “Devil,” and you could certainly say that about the electric blues in general. It’s all been done, with varying degrees of fury, fuzz and filth, right? Maybe, but the form is in pretty capable hands here, where Valenti teams up with veteran U.K. guitarist and producer Robin Davey, who played bass for ’90s U.K. blues-rockers the Hoax and whose near-misses with his later band the Davey Brothers certainly don’t mean he misses a lick in Well Hung Heart. Davey, who’s also done some notable work as a photographer and filmmaker, mans both guitar and bass in fashioning Well Hung Heart’s gut-busting sound, with Valenti playing the high-strung songstress and Phil Wilson on drums. Their forthcoming album is titled “Young Enough to Know It All.” And ain’t that the truth.
