Dead Can Dance – the long-running collaboration between Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard – were one of the artists that made 4AD as much of a genre as a record label. The duo’s explorations into the dark, worldly and ethereal set the bar high for their many followers, and now DCD returns with their first new album in 15 years, “Anastasis” (out Tuesday, but not on 4D, on PIAS Recordings] work that holds up well with the best in their catalog. It’s not as if Perry and Gerrard have been in hibernation – solo projects and other collaborations have busied them – but “Anastasis” saw the duo reunite in a stuio in Ireland last fall, 30 years after they first worked together. Happy return.
