Echo Park quintet NO arrived last fall with free, six-song EP that reminded everybody of the National and a predisposition to play those songs live until their fingers were raw. Some 50-plus shows and who-knows-how-many-free-downloads later, singer-guitarist Bradley Hanan Carter and crew have added to their catalog. “What’s Your Name” is a new 7-inch single out today on L.A.’s White Iris Records. Mixed by Lewis Pesacov and Dave Schiffman, the new song (and B-side “Eleven Eleven”) fits right into the rock noir palette from which NO worked on the EP – Carter’s grave baritone backed by prickly guitars, rolling basses and drummer Mike Walker’s churning rhythms. The fivesome is currently holed up in the mountains working on material for a full-length.
