Niki & the Dove, the Swedish duo consisting of members Malin Dahlström on vocals and Gustaf Karlöf on machines, creates pop that shimmers and pulses with a mysteriously dark undertone. Following up the success of their song “DJ, Ease My Mind,” the band went on to play handful of SXSW dates, release “The Drummer” EP and recently unleashed their full-length “Instinct” (Sub Pop), a mystical mix of enchanting dance tunes. Dahlström’s vocals coo with a bit of rasp and Karlöf’s knob-twisting drive their theatrical spin on songs such as “The Fox.” Their latest pop anthem, “Tomorrow,” gently percolates during the verses only to melodically soar during the bold choruses. Their clip for “The Fox” follows suit as an animal-human hybrid takes to the air and transforms accordingly to the music by way of CGI. The WINTR-directed clip is a visual trip and perfectly represents the unusual sound palette from Niki & the Dove.
