Ears Wide Open: Freedom Fry

Bruce Driscoll is moonlighting. Driscoll – who with his sister Erica is the creative force behind rising electro-pop band Blondfire – has teamed up with Parisian songstress Marie Seyrat as Freedom Fry. It’s boy/girl pop awash in harpsichord, dulcimer, autoharp and ukulele, with Driscoll’s plaintive voice paired nicely with Seyrat’s chanteuse sighs. Freedom Fry released a five-song EP “Let the Games Begin” last year and followed it up with the three-song “Outlaws” EP (“Jesse James,” “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Billy the Kid”) this past spring. Their heavenly harmonizing runs completely counter to the savagery in the video directed by Mark Maggiori and Petecia LeFawnhawk and filmed in Chloride, Ariz. But that’s rather the point, yes?
