We Barbarians hit hard by Superstorm Sandy

If you’re like us, you dropped a few bucks to help out those affected by Hurricane / Superstorm Sandy (probably by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999, although there are myriad other ways to help). But if you have it in your hearts and wallets to assist some old friends, the SoCal trio We Barbarians – who left this coast to try Brooklyn on for size in early 2011 – are reeling from the storm too. In a letter to their email list Monday, We Barbarians said water-related damage to their gear exceeded $45,000:
The good news is we are alive, have our home, power, and plenty of food and water. The bad news is we have sustained our own heavy blow because of the storm. Our rehearsal studio and all of our equipment was submerged under 5 1/2 feet of water. … After assessment, we’ve estimated that the value of the gear damaged or destroyed was just over $45k. We’ve spent the last few days trying to salvage anything we can and have taken much of our gear to repair shops only to be told most of it is beyond repair.
They are accepting donations via PayPal to replace their gear. Go here to donate. [Corrected link]

Our rehearsal spot was leveled as well. Roughly $7000 of live show gear gone.
