Adam Hervey, the guitarist in the ambient rock band Timonium who’s known in the Los Angeles music scene as the founder of the DIY venue Pehrspace in Echo Park, is recovering from a brain stem stroke he sustained last week. Hervey remains hospitalized at Glendale Adventist in intensive care, but the outlook is said to be good.
Hervey was at home late the night of Jan. 16 when he suddenly went deaf. After a few harrowing hours, doctors discovered a blood clot diagnosed him as having suffered a stroke. Hervey, 36, had recently run a half-marathon in Long Beach and had completed the LA Marathon last year.
Hervey’s friends are engaged in a fund-raising effort to help him defray medical costs. They’ve started a “Friends of Adam” page on GiveForward, where you can donate.
