Stream: Active Child, ‘Evening Ceremony’

Although Stephanie Meyers’ focus on aliens this time around still doesn’t have some buying into her teen romance novels, the first single from the soundtrack for “The Host” does, without a doubt, induce butterflies. Pat Grossi – aka Active Child – who hasn’t released anything since his stunning 2011 debut “You Are All I See” (besides an interpretation of gospel tune “His Eye Is On the Sparrow” earlier this year), finally offers a gorgeous new track titled “Evening Ceremony.” It gently swoops in with his signature falsetto and lush R&B beats and lifts with each note meticulously plucked on the harp. If this aching ballad is any sort of preview for Active Child’s sophomore effort, then my yearning for more material is just as bad as tweens and their lust for the occult.
