Lots of things have happened for the Parson Red Heads in the last few years. They made the trek from Los Angeles to their native Oregon, settling in Portland,; they released the lovely album “Yearling;” and the band’s married couple Evan and Brette Marie Way had a baby boy. Even with a baby in tow, the Parson Red Heads are jumping on tour to promote their latest EP, “6.” Although their releases have always featured honeyed folk with a dash of psychedelia, the EP is a “bite-sized glimpse at our musical progression over the past year or so,” says Evan Way. The six cuts include a song recorded with Danny O’Hanlon at Bungalow 9 Studios, a song from a self-produced recording session done all on 4-track cassette in their garage rehearsal space and four songs from the recording sessions with Scott McCaughey (R.E.M., the Minus 5, the Baseball Project) at Type Foundry Studios, which includes the bluesy ’70s and Fleetwood Mac-like tune titled “Times.” “6” is slated for a digital release June 4 and a limited pressing of 300 CDs will be available for sale on tour.
