Gypsy punk provocateurs Gogol Bordello have spent a decade raising hell – if not in socio-political arenas then on festival stages all over the world. They’ve been silent for a couple of years (except for the single “Let’s Get Crazy,” made in 2012 for a soda company’s ad campaign), but two weeks ago they announced they had signed to ATO Records and would be releasing a new album “Pura Vida Conspiracy” on July 23. As with their previous work, the band uses its kitchen-sink musical influences to embrace themes of rebellion, unity and romance. “Borders are scars on face of the planet,” main man Eugene Hütz sings on the opening track. The single “Malandrino” (rogue, wanderer or libertine, depending on the translation) is a fun romp. “I was born with singing heart,” he proclaims. And we, born to listen. No Los Angeles tour dates have been announced yet.
