Wow, what a Saturday:
‣ It’s time for another night of free music and fun downtown – 2013’s second installment of Chinatown Summer Nights goes off in an around Chinatown’s Central Plaza tonight. On the Buzz Bands LA-curated LA Weekly Live Music Stage are Magic Wands, Beat Club, the Dead Ships, Dear Boy, Haunted Summer and Irontom, and DJ sets from KCRW’s Jason Bentley and Mathieu Schreyer.
‣ Adam Ant & the Good, the Mad & the Lovely Posse rocks Club Nokia, joined by Prima Donna. Adam Ant’s first album in 17 years is titled “Adam Ant is The Blueblack Hussar in Marrying The Gunner’s Daughter.”
‣ Anybody have some good hours with these records? The LP Tour brings four artists who will be performing their most popular albums to the Wiltern – Matthew Sweet (1991’s “Girlfriend”), Big Head Todd & the Monsters (1993’s “Sister Sweetly”), Soul Asylum (1993’s “Grave Dancer’s Union”) and the Wailers (1984′ “Legend”). This show was originally scheduled for the Gibson Amphitheatre.
‣ Camper Van Beethoven celebrates 30 years (and the release of its first album in nine years, “La Costa Perdida”) with a headlining turn at the Troubadour, supported by El Sportivo.
‣ The Summer Slaughter Tour roars into the House of Blues, featuring the Dillinger Escape Plan atop a lineup that includes Norma Jean, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Revocation, the Ocean, Aeon, Rings of Saturn, Thy Art is Murder and Cattle Decapitation.
‣ And Rogue Wave headlines the El Rey Theatre behind its new album “Nightingale Floors,” with and Hey Marseilles supporting.
