Download: Together Pangea, ‘Snakedog’

Together Pangea, known for years at L.A. backyards as Pangea, has not risen to the top of the garage-rock heap for nothing. In an era when sheer energy often passes for craft, the band built around the alliance of William Keegan, Danny Bengston and Erik Jimenez has proven masterful at shreddy guitar rock while only seeming to come unhinged. Now part of the increasingly eclectic roster at Capitol affiliate Harvest Records, Pangea still look like the guys who would crash your house party, beat up your crappy DJ and plug in, but as their new single “Snakedog” attests, you’d remember their songs while nursing your hangover the next morning. We imagine Pangea killing time by listening to scratchy vinyl from the Stooges, Johnny Thunders and Richard Hell. Maybe playing this shiny new 7-inch through lousy speakers will have the same effect.
