When Sophie Stern and David Greenbaum surfaced in January as the duo Bom Bom, their undeniably catchy pop single “Woman” was on repeat here at BBLA HQ. Now Stern and Greenbaum have finally announced a self-titled EP that includes new songs “Pray” and “Bad Man.” Although “Woman” is still the standout track and production has gotten much slicker on the additional tracks, the EP will make their path to mainstream radio an easy one. Stern’s scooping vocals and slight rap verse in “Pray” may perk the ears of both Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj fans while the cheerful ’60s soul sounds of “Bad Man” might please fans of the Asteroids Galaxy Tour. Either way, Bom Bom’s EP makes the duo a strong contender for local pop outfit of the year.
