Some may recognize Matthew “Cornbread” Compton as one-half of Electric Guest. Some may know him as the drummer from Engine Down while others may know his work as a film composer. Whatever his name may be attached to, Compton has a great resumé so far. His latest project goes by the moniker Realities, a venture that sees him collaborating with a number of other members from the Black Iris Music Collective. An active composer and performer at Black Iris himself, he has released a self-titled four-song EP where each song features vocals from Alex Lilly of Touché, Matt Popieluch of Big Search, Luke Top of Fool’s Gold and Rachel Fannan of Only You, respectively. Each track could easily be a contender for any of these band’s own albums, but as Realities, Compton has provided his unique touch on production. “Realities” is out this week on White Iris Records.
