Video: Moonface, ‘Barbarian’

Spencer Krug’s resume is quite lengthy considering he’s been a member of Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake, Frog Eyes and Fifths of Seven. However, it’s his solo material as Moonface that is the most stunning, and his third full-length under the moniker is the most moving yet. On “Julia With Blue Jeans On,” there are only two elements: Krug’s vocals and the piano. A stark contrast to the last Moonface record “Heartbreak Bravery,” a lush rock collaboration with Finnish band Siinai, songs such as “Barbarian” and “Everyone Is Noah, Everyone is the Ark” is an intimate flow of self-reflection at its finest. The music video above for the former is paired with home video footage from the 1980s of three children showing off their top notch dance moves. In the video you’ll find Spencer far right wearing the red shirt. “Julia With Blue Jeans On” is out now via Jagjaguwar.
