Hot on the heels of this year’s “Sell Your Memories,” husband-and-wife duo Fonda have already announced that they’ve recorded enough material this summer for a release in 2014 – and we’re not complaining. Their shoegaze dreampop has been known to give BBLA HQ warm fuzzies every time they strike those Britpop chords and sing those boy-girl harmonies. Â But before we get to hear any songs from the new batch, David Klotz and Emily Cook have released the single “Sequence Dream” (and “Another New Year’s Eve” as the b-side just in time for the holidays) as a teaser. The new track is nothing less than expected from a band who has influenced many of today’s dreampop artists. With a slow-burning chorus, a chugging bass line, heavenly synths, and Cook’s ethereal vocals floating above, Klots (on lead vocals) guides us through sweet surrealism and nostalgic bliss. “Another New Year’s Eve” involved a 20-piece string section, which had Fonda turning to producer Raymond Richards (Local Natives, Avid Dancer, Warships) to mix the two songs as well as the forthcoming album. “Sequence Dream” is out now via Minty Fresh.
