Although the status of Foxygen‘s existence is unclear at the moment, we do know that members of the psych-rock band have kept busy. We heard the excellent debut “My Friend Fish” from drummer Shaun Fleming, aka Diane Coffee; Jonathan Rado released his “Law and Order” EP in September; and now we hear from Elizabeth Le Fey, aka Globelamp. (You may recognize her a touring member and as the female vocalist in Foxygen’s video for “San Francisco.”) Although Le Fey actually started writing music when she lived in her native Mission Viejo, things changed once she moved north for a K Records internship in Olympia, Wash. It was there that she met Sam France, who had already been a fan of Globelamp and asked her to go on tour with Foxgyen. Le Fey has recently returned to Orange County, but she and France did manage to work together on Globelamp’s latest EP, titled “Star Dust.” In fact, it actually isn’t too far from what Foxygen fans would enjoy (France also drums and provides backing vocals). There is a delicate air to the jangly, gypsy-tinted folk on songs like “Time Warp,” but Le Fey also revels in psychedelic lo-fi world on songs like “Daddy’s Gone.” “Star Dust” is now available on Bandcamp.
