Stream: Together Pangea, ‘Badillac’

It wasn’t that long ago that Pangea – now known as Together Pangea – was fairly indistinguishable from the other scrappy, well-meaning garage-rock contenders on the landscape. They could play, they had attitude, they could work you into a lather. Their new album “Badillac” rises above (at times very far above) what songwriter William Keegan described as the “punky bubblegum vibe” of their last record. The album flexes muscle and flashes anger in a potpourri of styles ranging from ’80s post-punk to ’90s arena-rock, at times sounding like the loudest but most sober dudes at the party. “Badillac,” out this week on Harvest Records, was produced by Andrew Schubert, and Keegan, bassist Danny Bengston and drummer Erik Jimenez were joined in the studio by second guitarist Cory Hanson. The title track (and the previously posted “Snakedog”) is a good place to start, but you’ll want to collect the whole set.
