Stream: Fever the Ghost, ‘Source’

If you have caught any one of the numerous live performances in the past eight months, you are already aware of the resplendent spectacle that is Fever the Ghost. The quartet of Casper Indrizzo, Bobby Victor, Nicolas Overhauser and Mason Rothschild [one of our Bands to Watch 2014] mete out a mind-altering psychedelic rubdown, fusing elaborate harmonic hooks with punching bass, vital drum lines and complex synth arrangements. As psych-rock goes, it’s physical, fearless music – their first proper EP, “Crab in Honey” (released this week), is a sparkling thrill ride seemingly steered by the ghost of Ziggy Stardust. The skipping bass line in “Source” steers the track into a funky libation of layered laser blasts, blushing cymbals and entrancing vocals. Feverish, indeed.
