Ears Wide Open: Bodegas

Bodegas

Sure, they may have named their band after a scene in the film “Half-Baked,” but you can’t assume everything about the guys in the Inland Empire band Bodegas. After playing numerous skate parks and house parties, the trio of Chris Swanson, George Pantoja and Angel Aldana are heading west from Covina to the City of Angels, where rowdy plays equally well. They’ve just self-released their unruly sophomore effort “Hiatus,” but it certainly doesn’t sound like they’re taking a break any time soon. With 13 tracks of punk rock with a smidge of soul and even a little reggae, Bodegas are here to party … maybe forever. You might even invite them to crash your party merely based on the first two tracks “Finna” and “Late At Night,” but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
