Video: Harriet, ‘Burbank’

1

The first thing you should know about the recent exploits of Harriet is that the L.A. quartet’s debut album will be titled “It’s Totally Cool, I Wouldn’t Even Worry About It,” which, as album titles go, is totally cool. Frontman Alex Casnoff says the album will be out “the second quarter of this year,” or more than two years after the onetime Dawes keyboardist unleashed his first EP “Tell the Right Story.” That release featured the kiss-off single “I Slept With All Your Mothers” in all its brazeness, but the first song Harriet has unveiled from the new album is not that. “Burbank” oozes melancholy, a simmering meditation built on a simple echoing riff. Director Ethan Berger’s evocative video finds Casnoff in a desolate place, geographically and emotionally, and follows along while he fantasizes about the temporary object of his affection. So fleeting, these things.
