“Answers,” the latest EP from Duniven, is a more restrained affair than either 2012’s “These Dreams” or the breakup-inspired 2011 full-length “I Need to Try for Her.” It’s almost as if singer-songwriter Patrick Thomas captured and bottled the vibe of “a long day, living in Reseda” and ignored the freeway running through the yard. The EP, released just before Christmas, finds Duniven engaging in more of the California-inspired Americana of the ’70s – it was produced by keyboardist extraordinaire Jason Borger (aka Jerry Borgé, most recently spotted in Jonathan Wilson’s band) and features contributions from Brian Whelan, Rob Douglas, Omar Velasco and Richard Gowen (the latter two also play with Wilson). File with your well-dressed roots-rock.
