Video: Kevin Morby, ‘If You Leave and If You Marry’

Kevin Morby‘s solo debut “Harlem River” is intimate and homey in the best troubadour tradition. Past singles such as “Miles, Miles, Miles” by Morby (who is also a member of Woodsist and the Babies) carried an air of nostalgia, but “If You Leave and If You Marry” is taken to another level with its music video. Comprised of Super 8 footage shot by Morby’s grandfather in Scottsbluff, Neb., during the ’50s and early ’60s, we see the story of his Aunt Carol’s life in the midst of other family members, most of whom Morby has never met. The video isn’t soundtracked with anything as the woeful track “Slow Train,” but the guitar work in the new single certainly makes the novel act of reminiscing a little lovelier. “Harlem River” is out via Woodsist.
